Macy’s, Inc. (NYSE:M) today announced it will open two new Macy’s stores in the
Central Valley of California in fall 2009. Both are former Gottschalks locations
for which Macy’s submitted successful bids in the Gottschalks bankruptcy
process.

The stores are located in River Park in Fresno (107,000 square feet; built in
2004) and Visalia Mall in Visalia (150,000 square feet; built in 1995). Both are
expected to be open prior to the 2009 holiday selling season after minor
remodeling and re-fixturing. Each store is expected to offer a wide selection of
apparel and accessories for the whole family, as well as a limited assortment of
home merchandise. Together, the two stores are expected to employ about 250
Macy’s associates.
